A bear rounds the bend on the trail ahead, closer than you'd like. BearHalt bear deterrent spray fires a wide shotgun pattern, so you don't need much practice to hit your mark. It reaches an average 6–8 m from the 225 g can or 8–9 m from the 325 g, as your last line of defence.

• Average range up to 9 m: about 6–8 m from 225 g and 8–9 m from 325 g, depending on wind and temperature.
• Wide shotgun pattern: covers a broad area, so accuracy takes little training.
• 0.98% capsaicin: swells a bear's eyes and airways for 30–45 minutes, with no known lasting effect.
• Glow-in-the-dark safety top: easy to find and release in low light.
• Registered in Canada: Registration No. 27,382 under the Pest Control Products Act.

In the box: one BearHalt bear deterrent can, 225 g or 325 g. Holster not included.

Good to know: range shortens below 0 °C, so store it above freezing. Replace the can every three years, or sooner if its weight drops below 75% of the net contents.

Using it: test fire a short burst before your first trip and at the start of each season, in an open area with the wind blowing away from you.
